Narnia actor enjoys ‘record’ premier

Source: Wimbledon Guardian

A movie starring a former Kingston student has boasted the biggest ever film premiere.

According to organisers, the premier of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian has beaten records for a film’s opening.

Up to 10,000 people are expected to attend the film’s premier, which will star Ben Barnes, at London’s O2 Europe.

It is thought the event has seen the construction of Europe’s largest cinema screen at a massive 91ft by 38ft.

Catching up.

I have been incredibly busy lately, but I think I’m ready to play catch-up with Ben and his news/travels. Thank you to everyone who has linked me over the past week or so.

To start off here’s an interview out of New Zealand.

Source: The New Zealand Herald

“Bastards,” says Ben Barnes. He’s talking about his fellow actors from Prince Caspian, the new Chronicles of Narnia film in which he plays the title role. He’s joking. Sort of. “I’m eternally jealous of all of them,” says Barnes.

The problem is the constant, tedious raving of castmates, as well as director Andrew Adamson, about a magical day they shared shooting a scene in a remote corner of New Zealand’s beautiful South Island.

On a gloriously crystalline, isolated river near Haast, all the stars except Barnes spent a day in rowboats, with Adamson working an outboard motor and wielding the radio controls for the actors’ dinghy. “It was like student film-making, completely idyllic and intimate,” says Adamson.

Win the ‘Prince Caspian’ Soundtrack!

Exciting news! We’ve just received three promotional CDs from CineMedia, a public relations company hired to promote the Prince Caspian Soundtrack in the US. We’re keeping one for ourselves, but the other two will be given away in two contests on the site!

The first contest is simple. One CD will be given away to a commenter on this post! Simply comment to this post with a name and valid e-mail (very important—if we don’t have your e-mail, we can’t contact you for your address), and your name will be in the drawing! Only one entry per person, and this contest will run through the weekend—so on Tuesday we will announce the winner.

The second contest will be to reward forum activity. On June 15th, 2007, we will pick the most active member of the Ben Barnes Forum to win the second CD! If you want to win, you will need to make legitimate posts—spam, gibberish, and gossip are already against forum rules, so they don’t qualify for forum activity. But you may talk about ANYTHING Ben-related. To register for the forum, click here.

Shipping in these contests is free for all residents of the continental U.S. International fans may feel free to enter, but we may need to collect additional shipping costs—we’re willing to pay up to $10.00 US, but beyond that we’ll need to talk a paypal exchange, etc.
